IRG is meeting a critical global need by recycling waste plastic that would otherwise end up in landfills, oceans, rivers and streams.
This state-of-the-art facility will process 160,000 tons of plastic waste annually, transforming it into valuable resources: 100,000 tons of Post-Consumer Resin and 20,000 tons of CleaRed™, an innovative material poised to revolutionize steel production by reducing fossil fuels used in the steelmaking process.
With the support of a conditional loan guarantee of up to $182.6 million from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office, this project represents a significant step towards a greener future. It not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions, but it is also poised to create over 550 jobs across construction and operations in Erie, Pennsylvania, and northwest Indiana.
